- the need for individual and whole staff literacy training
- periodic, one-off professional learning has a limited impact on outcomes
- the importance of maintaining a high level of professional dialogue to sustaining focus and continuing growth
- learnings not actioned within the first few weeks of professional development are unlikely to be actioned at all
- the most effective teachers of literacy maintain an active interest in what’s new, what works and how to continue to improve
LTA will support individuals and groups to:

NOT SURE IF THE LITERACY TEACHERS’ ACADEMY IS RIGHT FOR YOU?
The Literacy Teachers’ Academy is NOT for everyone, and truth be told we’d prefer to help you figure out if it’s not right for you BEFORE you join. So, let’s consider…
WHO THE ACADEMY IS FOR
- Highly motivated teachers of P to Year 6 who wish to continually improve their teaching skills in a supportive and safe learning environment.
- School administrators who wish to provide their teaching staff with high quality and comprehensive learning and support in literacy without breaking the PD budget.
- Teachers and schools who recognise they are on a learning journey and want to take that journey with like-minded, motivated colleagues.
- Action takers who aren’t just going to watch some training videos and never implement. We provide the training and resources, but you still need to do the work!
- Communicators and networkers who wish to share their knowledge and experiences and like to pick the brains of others.
WHO THE ACADEMY IS NOT FOR
- Teachers wishing to get their minimum required learning hours up for the year. The multitude of varying endorsement organisations and mechanisms means it isn’t viable to have our material certified by all authorising bodies.
- Teachers looking for ‘busy work’ for their students. Quality teaching requires commitment, effort, and energy. There are no shortcuts! If you didn’t teach it, it is probably ‘busy work’.
- Anyone looking for a quick fix or not willing to dedicate time to their own professional learning. We provide the resources and the environment, but you still need to dedicate your time to participate and learn.
- Unprofessionalism. There is a zero-tolerance policy for criticism and bullying. Member comments on LTA are monitored and any reports of offensive or hurtful behaviour taken seriously. Memberships WILL be cancelled for deliberate noncompliance with our expectations of professional behaviour.

It’s great you are doing well. Over the years, many schools we have supported have been amongst the top achievers in the country. These schools appreciate the importance of ensuring all students reach their full potential and acknowledge their students are likely to learn more easily than others. Some have students able to read on entry to the foundation year and many students likely to achieve well regardless of the quality of their teachers. These schools understand the importance of teacher expertise and the necessity for these teachers to plan relevant, meaningful instruction for naturally, high achieving students.
Members can access all content immediately and new content will be uploaded every fortnight. The content library will continue to grow, so members will never ‘run out’ of resources on the site. LTA encourages members to tell us what they would like, and our projects will be guided by the most popular member requests.
We endeavour to meet the needs of our members by responding to questions submitted through the Member Q & A. We will identify questions based on popularity and create short video responses each week or fortnight. We will also add comments to the Members’ Forum.
We understand LTA may not be for you. Just advise in writing 14 days prior to your next billing cycle, and your membership will be cancelled, and no further payments will apply.
Check what cancellation abilities the software has to automate cancelling and refunds. Then perhaps amend this text if necessary
If you have purchased a yearly membership, a refund for the unused portion of your membership will be calculated from the date your membership began. For example, if you joined on 16 January and wish to cancel on 4 August, your membership will end on 16 August and no further payments will apply.
You will no longer be a member of LTA. We will retain your profile details for a limited time in case you:
- change your mind and want to come back
- lose your membership because you change schools and wish to retain your profile details for your new school membership.
We are sorry we cannot store your details indefinitely.
Hmmm, probably. Check software for ability to handle this
You are invited to trial LTA for 30-days at no charge. During this time, you will have access some of what is available within each of our content areas.
