Review the texts you plan to use across the curriculum over the coming week. Identify a teaching goal for each. Consider what students need to know and be able to do in order to deconstruct meaning on each text; this will be useful in guiding your teaching judgments. Consider what you will say or do in order to:
- engage interest
- introduce the text
- activate student knowledge
- set a purpose for learning. What will you say to make the learning goal clear to students?
Practise these aspects of your lesson using a variety of texts and text types. Consider the way these lesson components enhance learning and support students to synthesise ideas from the text.
That’s all for Part 5!
