Review your reading program and reflect:
- Teaching goals and learning intentions: Are your shared reading lessons used to explicitly teach for problem solving actions? Are teaching goals informed by formal and informal data?
- Lesson focus: Is the teaching goal/learning intention made clear to students?
- Frequency of instruction: How often could I plan shared reading episodes each week? Am I taking advantage of texts across other subject areas? What problem solving skills, strategies or actions could I teach using texts from other key learning areas?
- Reflection: What do I currently do in order to gain insights into student understandings before, during and after shared reading lessons? What else could I do to enhance learning?
