Guided reading occurs to provide students with opportunities to apply problem solving actions to an independently read text.

Modelled reading, reading aloud and shared reading are all approaches for teaching reading; independent reading is essential for building success, but is not an approach for teaching reading.

Students are grouped in similar abilities.

Texts are matched to the group of students and the needs of these students.

The teacher supports students to apply problem solving activity. The teacher prompts, coaches or teaches in response to challenges in the text and the needs of students.

Well done! That’s the end of the quiz for part 2
