Course progress

To observe the benefits of warming up before reading, do an experiment.

  1. Choose two guided reading texts on topics around which students have limited knowledge.
  2. Have one group start the reading cold. (That is, have them begin reading without activating prior knowledge or building content knowledge.)
  3. With the second group, start with a warm up.
  4. Activate prior knowledge and build story or content knowledge before reading.
  5. Note the differences in the word solving and comprehension levels.

That’s all for Part 3!
