- Review the texts you will use for guided reading.
- Browse the text or section/s of text you intend to use.
- Consider the conversation needed to consolidate and deepen students’ understandings of the text. Jot down some conversation starters and prompts that you could use.
- Action your ideas during guided reading lessons.
- Reflect afterwards: What worked? Why? What didn’t work? Why? Were all students actively engaged in the discussion? What else could I have done or said?
